Monopoly: Big Event is a slot machine from the
UK based slot provider Barcrest. This is one of
several slot machines that are based on the
popular board game Monopoly, another example is
Super Monopoly Money from WMS. There are two
different game plays to choose from on this slot
machine. There's a normal base game, where you
spin one spin per bet, and there's a Big Bet
feature where you buy 5 consecutive spins for
€20 or €30 per game round. As on many of the
other Barcrest games, the Big Bet games increase
the possibility to trigger the combined bonus
game and free spin feature. It's difficult to
calculate the exact maximal potential win for
this slot machine since it features sticky wild
symbols during the feature, but the potential is
at the higher end. The payout percentage of this
game is a bit special. If you chose to play the
base game, the RTP is 96%, but if you play the
Big Bets it increases to up to 99%.

This game can be played with a normal bet, or a
Big Bet. The different features will vary a bit
depending on what kind of bet you place. Some of
the features are only available during the Big
Bet feature. I'll try to explain it during the
descriptions below.
Monopoly: Big Event has wild symbols on all the
reels during the base game. These symbols
substitute for all other symbols except the Big
Event bonus symbols. There are several other
ways to get wild symbols to appear in this game
as well, and I will describe them in the below
section. There is a combined bonus game and free
spin feature on this slot machine. The bonus
game is a pick bonus, and it will determine what
kind of free spin feature and wild symbols you
get during the free spins. There is also a Big
Bet feature that increase the payout percentage
from 96.00% to a generous 99.00%.
Big Bet feature: There are two different
Big Bets that can be made on Monopoly: Big
Event, and all Big Bet spins are paid according
to the bet size of €1.00 per spin. A €20 bet
will buy you 5 consecutive spins where a
progressive win multiplier is in play. The first
spin will have a win multiplier of x1, while
each of the next spins will increase the total
multiplier by +x1 per spin. The 5th spin will
then have a multiplier of x5. The current
multiplier value can be seen on the right hand
side of the game. A €30 bet will also buy you 5
consecutive spins, but here there are 3
different options that can apply to the spins.
If the €30 bet is bought, a lucky wheel with 3
different features are shown on the screen. A
spin will be made, and whatever feature you land
on is what you get for the next 5 spins.
The options are: A blue progressive multiplier,
which is the same as you get in the €20 bet. You
can also win a green persisting wilds feature.
This will make all Big Event symbols wild and
sticky during the 5 spins. The last option is
the yellow epic spins. If you land on this
feature, all 5 spins will have a x5 multiplier
applied to all wins. The Big Bets feature a way
higher frequency of the combined bonus game and
free spin feature, and it's by far easiest to
win it from the green persisting wilds feature,
where the bonus symbols turn into wilds and
sticks to the screen. A combination 3 of them
will activate the bonus.
Bonus game / Free spins: The free spins
can be triggered in a couple of ways. During the
base game, a combination of Big Event symbols
has to land on reel 1, 3 and 5 for the bonus to
trigger. During the Big Bet's the same
combination is needed, but for the green
persisting wild feature it's enough to get 3 Big
Event symbols anywhere on reel 1, 3 and 5. The
5th reel has stacked Big Event symbols during
all the different bet sizes. Except for the
persisting wild feature, you will always need a
bonus symbol on reel 1 and 3, and then you can
get 1, 2 or 3 additional symbols on the 5th
reel. The number of symbols that trigger the
bonus will reflect the bonus features.
The bonus starts off with a pick bonus game.
There are 15 community chests on the left side
of the game and 9 chance cards on the right side
of the game. The community chests can contain
free spins or guaranteed wins, while the chance
cards contain dices, houses or hotels. You start
off by picking a community chest by clicking on
it, then it's time to pick a chance card. This
process will continue alternately until 3 dices,
houses or hotels are found. The longer you
continue before a match is found behind the
chance cards, the larger amount of free spins
and win spins can be found behind the community
chests.

If the bonus was triggered with 4 or 5 bonus
symbols a sneak peek is rewarded. 4 symbols will
show you where the green houses are hidden,
while 5 symbols will show you where the red
hotels are hidden. There is an optimal strategy
for this game, and I would suggest that you read
the below section before you proceed. All of the
free spin options has an In Jail symbol that can
appear during the spins, for each time this
symbol appear, one of the low paying symbols
will be put in jail, and then those symbols will
be removed from the reels for the remaining
spins. 10-J-Q-K-A will all be removed in the
shown order for each In Jail symbol that
appears.
If you find 3 dices, the amount of found free
spins will start with no additional features. 3
green houses will start the free spins with a
dancing and stacked wild symbol. This symbol
will jump between the reels for each spin, and
guarantees you one wild reel for each spin. 3
red hotels will activate the best free spin
feature, a feature where all appearing wild
symbols will become sticky for the remaining
spins. This means that if you get for example
two wilds on the first spin, they will stick to
the reels for the rest of the spins.
The guaranteed wins that can be picked during
the community chest picks will be shown in the
upper right corner of the game during the free
spins. For each win you get, you lose one
guaranteed win spin. If you have guaranteed win
spins left after all free spins have been used,
your taken to a different kind of reel set. This
is a multiplier wheel that will grant you with
one spin per remaining guaranteed win. Each
value will multiply you total bet size with
between x1 and x50 the stake per spin. For Big
Bet's the multipliers will be multiplied with
€1.00, as this is the bet size that's in play
for each spin during the Big Bets.
Optimal strategy: There's not many slot
machine where you can actually influence on the
outcome and payout percentage of the game, but
at Monopoly: Big Event that's possible. If the
bonus game is triggered with 4 or 5 bonus
symbols, a sneak peek is awarded. This feature
will reveal where the green house symbols, or
the red hotel symbols are hidden. 4 symbols show
the houses, while 5 symbols show the hotels. The
optimal strategy for 4 symbols: Start off by
picking 2 of the revealed house symbols, then
pick randomly among the other symbols until you
get a match. It's never optimal to choose 3
green houses.
The optimal strategy for 5 symbols: Pick 2 of
the red hotels before you pick until you have
found 2 green houses and 2 dices. Then pick the
red hotel. It's not optimal to pick the 3 hotels
before you how found two of each of the other
symbols. This might sound a bit strange, but the
value of getting the extra spins in between the
picks is so high, that it's worth risking
getting the dices during the picks. The optimal
strategy will result in a theoretical payout
percentage of 96.00% during the base game and
99.00% during the Big Bets.
