Aliens is a branded slot machine from Net Entertainment and it's based on the movie with the same name from 1986. As most branded slots, this one also has a lot of the known elements from the movie shown during the game play. It features a unique game play unlike any other slot machine I've seen during all my years as a slot machine player. During the base game you actually collect winning symbols and win streaks to activate the bonus game. Aliens features a combined bonus and free spin game where you need to proceed in the free spins to get to the bonus game. The maximal win for Aliens is listed to be 3.800x the stake per spin, which is on the high side for Net Entertainment slots. This prize can be won by completing the bonus game when it offers the max win.

Let me first start of by telling a bit about the special game play on this slot machine. The game play on Aliens is divided into 3 different levels, the first level is named The Search. This is the base game level, where you have to collect winning combinations and symbols to move on to the second level. The second level is named The Encounter, this is the free spin level where you have to survive waves from the monster by collecting ammunition during the free spins. If you manage to stay alive during the second level, your taken to level 3. This level is named The Hive and this is the bonus game where you get the chance to kill the monster and collect a decent cash prize.

Aliens has wild symbols on reel 2, 3, 4 and 5 during the base game, while it has wild symbols on all the reels during the free spin feature. These symbols substitute for all other symbols, but they do not substitute for any multipliers or add any symbols to the top line. Aliens has a combined free spin feature and bonus game that can be triggered in different steps. The free spins are triggered from the base game, and the bonus game is triggered from the free spins. It's a little but complicated, but I'll try to explain it in the below section.

The Search base game: This is the base game on Aliens, here you'll see a normal slot reel set with 5x3 reels. What’s special about the base game on this slot is the 9 open squares on the top of the screen. This is where you have to look to activate the free spin feature. For each win you get during the base game, one spot on the top line is filled per winning symbol in a winning combination (wilds does not count towards the top line). So if you get 3 yellow monsters on a payline, spot 1, 2 and 3 from the left is filled on the top line. In addition to filling the top line, all winning symbols also get an added multiplier.

This multiplier will apply to all wins with that current symbol during the base game and during the free spins if you manage to get there. The multipliers will start at x2 and then increase by an additional x1 for each additional symbol of the same kind. If you have 3x3 symbols of different value, they all get a multiplier of x2, x3 and x4. Each new spin that is made will move the top line symbols one step to the left, meaning that one symbol will be removed from the top line for each spin. This will also decrease the multiplier value for the symbols that are in the left position on the top line. New wins will add more symbols to the top line to help you to fill it up. The goal is to fill the whole top line with at least 9 symbols. This is what you need to activate the free spin feature and level 2 named The Encounter.

The Encounter free spins: This is the free spin feature on Aliens, and it's activated from the base game as described above. The amount of free spins you get is determined by how much ammunition you manage to collect in between each spin, as you can see in the down right corner you start off with 1 ammunition. All the free spins start with a guaranteed 3 of a kind combination on line number 1, this combination will reflect one of the 10 symbols that are highlighted on the top line, and it starts on the left side and moves to the right side one step at a time. During the free spins the topline has expanded to contain 10 symbols, one for each of the different symbols in the game. All multipliers that where collected during the base game, are now added to the corresponding symbols during the free spins.

After each spin you have to fight a monster, this fight starts with a spin on an ammunition wheel where you can win 1, 2 or no additional ammunition. After each ammunition spin you have you use 1 ammunition to keep the monster away from you, as long as you have enough ammunition, you get to carry on to the next free spin. This process continues for 10 spins unless you run out of ammunition and get killed by the monster. If you get killed, you return to the base game, but if you manage to stay alive for 10 monster waves, your taken to the third level named The Hive. This is the bonus game on Aliens.

The Hive bonus game: This is the bonus game on Aliens, and it's triggered from the previous mentioned free spin feature. This is where you can manage to kill the monster and get a decent cash prize for doing it. On the top of the screen there are 60 health symbols that represent the monster’s total health. There are also 4 different cash prizes shown above the lives, these prizes will be won if you manage to take away 15, 30, 45 or 60 health from the monster. You start the bonus with 4 ammunitions which represent 5 spins on a grenade strength wheel and 5 spins on a grenade multiplier wheel.

Each grenade can have strength of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6, while each multiplier can have values from x1, x2, x3, x5 to x10. The grenade you get will be multiplied with the grenade multiplier, so if you hit 3 on the grenade and x5 on the multiplier, it equals to a total grenade power of 15. This is then the amount of health symbols that will be removed on the top of the screen. To win the main prize all 60 health symbols need to be removed, but if your unable to kill the monster entirely, there's some smaller prizes to be won during the shooting.
